The Texas Public Safety Office solicited applications for state-funded projects supporting the prosecution of border crimes during state fiscal years 2026 and 2027. Eligible activities include prosecuting persons charged with statutorily defined border crimes and providing specialized training to Border Prosecution Unit members and law-enforcement agencies in the Texas border region.
Eligible applicants are qualifying Texas counties, including counties in the statutory border region whose prosecuting attorney is a Border Prosecution Unit member and counties PSO determines are significantly affected by border crime.

Applicant types: Qualifying Texas counties.
Counties within the Texas border region defined by Texas Government Code §772.0071(a)(2) that have a prosecuting attorney with membership in the Border Prosecution Unit under Texas Government Code §772.053, and counties PSO determines are significantly affected by border crime.
What can the funding be used for?
Prosecuting persons charged with border crimes as defined by Texas Government Code §772.0071(a)(1), and training Border Prosecution Unit members and law-enforcement agencies in the border region on issues and techniques related to investigating and prosecuting border crime.
Restrictions
Inherently religious activities; lobbying; compensation for elected or appointed government officials; vehicles or equipment for general agency use; weapons, ammunition, tasers, or explosives; amusement, recreation, or sporting-event admission; promotional gifts; most food, meals, beverages, or refreshments; individual membership dues; expenses or services readily available at no cost; supplanting; fundraising; construction; medical services; legal services for adult offenders; and costs prohibited by federal, state, or local law or the Guide to Grants.
How to apply
Applicants must register and apply through the PSO eGrants grant-management website. Applications had to be submitted and certified by March 13, 2025, at 5:00 PM CST as stated by the source. PSO screens applications for compliance and reviews them based on eligibility, reasonableness, available funding, and cost-effectiveness before making final funding decisions.
Required materials
A Cybersecurity Training Certification for State and Local Governments must be uploaded. Each covered local government or institution of higher education operating a law-enforcement agency must also upload the CEO/Law Enforcement Certifications and Assurances Form. Applicants must be registered in SAM and have a Unique Entity ID.
