Crime Stoppers Assistance Fund, FY2026

Summary: Texas state funding for certified Crime Stoppers organizations to operate and expand anonymous tip programs, campus initiatives, approved training and conferences, outreach, and related information systems.
The Crime Stoppers Assistance Fund supports Texas Crime Stoppers organizations certified by the Texas Crime Stoppers Council. Eligible work includes anonymous tip-management systems, campus Crime Stoppers expansion, approved training, conference hosting, outreach, professional services, supplies, and operating expenses.
Only qualifying certified nonprofit or public Crime Stoppers organizations may apply. Award limits vary by applicant and project type. Salaries for law-enforcement coordinators and standard-issue law-enforcement equipment are prohibited.
Who is eligible?
Applicant types: Private nonprofit organizations and public organizations meeting the statutory definition of a Crime Stoppers organization and certified by the Texas Crime Stoppers Council.
Texas Crime Stoppers organizations defined by Texas Government Code Section 414.001(2) and certified by the Texas Crime Stoppers Council. Applicants also had to satisfy the applicable county criminal-history disposition reporting requirements, have a DUNS number, and submit the required 2024 program reports.
What can the funding be used for?
Training, professional development, technical assistance, contractual and professional services, salaries for non-law-enforcement staff directly employed by nonprofit Crime Stoppers programs, travel to Texas Crime Stoppers Council-approved training, supplies and equipment costing under $5,000, specified operating expenses, program advertising and public relations, computerized tip-management software, approved conference hosting, and approved statewide training activities.
Restrictions
Salaries for law-enforcement coordinators or other public employees supporting Crime Stoppers as part of their current employment; construction, renovation, or remodeling; medical services; fundraising; promotional gifts; standard-issue law-enforcement equipment; entertainment without a clear programmatic purpose and advance PSO approval; unallowable costs identified in the Guide to Grants; and costs prohibited by law or regulation.
How to apply
Applicants had to register and apply through the Texas Office of the Governor Public Safety Office eGrants system. The application had to be submitted and certified online by 5:00 p.m. CST on February 13, 2025. The Office of the Governor screened applications for compliance and costs, conducted a quality, capability, and past-performance review, and made final funding decisions.
Required materials
An eGrants application containing the required project narrative and itemized budget; the 2024 Probation Fee and Repayment Report; and the 2024 Statistical Reports. Both reports were due to Texas Crime Stoppers by January 31, 2025. Applicants also had to have a DUNS number.
