Summary: Competitive federal grants for eligible state law enforcement agencies conducting or supervising anti-methamphetamine investigations. Funding supports investigative personnel, statewide task forces, analytical capacity, equipment, technology, training, and other costs directly related to locating or investigating methamphetamine laboratories, precursor diversion, and traffickers.

The FY 2026 COPS Anti-Methamphetamine Program provides three-year grants to eligible state law enforcement agencies for anti-methamphetamine investigative work. The program is intended to strengthen investigations, statewide task forces, analytical reporting, information sharing, arrests, and drug seizures.

Funding may support new sworn officers, civilian personnel, overtime, training, equipment, technology, supplies, contracts, consultants, and other allowable project expenses. Budget requests must be at least $1 million and may not exceed $2 million per award. No cost sharing or matching contribution is required.

Who is eligible?

Applicant types: State government law enforcement agencies

State law enforcement agencies authorized by law to engage in or supervise anti-methamphetamine investigative activities. For this NOFO, a state includes any U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, and the Northern Mariana Islands. Budget requests must be at least $1,000,000.

What can the funding be used for?

Salaries and fringe benefits for new full-time sworn career law enforcement officers and eligible rehired officers; civilian or non-sworn personnel such as CAMP project coordinators and anti-methamphetamine or drug analysts; CAMP-related travel and training; equipment, technology, and supplies directly linked to the project; procurement contracts and consultants; software and prepaid warranties or maintenance agreements not exceeding 36 months; and overtime for sworn officers and civilians engaged in CAMP-related investigative activities.

Restrictions

Clandestine drug laboratory cleanup, treatment programs, prosecution of methamphetamine-related activities, costs incurred before the award period begins, and other activities or costs identified as unallowable by the CAMP Application Resource Guide or applicable federal cost rules.
