Summary: Federal grants for innovative, evidence-based traffic safety enforcement projects intended to reduce motor-vehicle crashes associated with risky driving and produce approaches that law-enforcement agencies can replicate nationwide.
The ITSE Grant Program supports innovative traffic safety enforcement research and development, demonstration, training, and education activities. Projects are intended to reduce crashes associated with risky driving and develop evidence-based approaches that are scalable and transferable for use by state and local law-enforcement agencies throughout the United States.
Who is eligible?
Applicant types: State governments; county governments; city or township governments; special district governments; federally recognized tribal governments; Native American tribal organizations; public and state-controlled institutions of higher education; private institutions of higher education; nonprofit organizations with or without 501(c)(3) status; and other applicants identified in the NOFO.
Applicants may include a state or local agency, authority, association, educational institution, or nonprofit organization with the organizational capacity and experience to administer, coordinate, and implement the NOFO activities. The synopsis does not separately identify police departments or sheriff's offices as an applicant class, so an operational law-enforcement agency must fit an eligible entity class and satisfy the NOFO's capacity requirements.
