Summary: Missouri state funding that supplements salaries and associated eligible benefits for qualifying full-time county deputy sheriffs and certain full-time county police officers with sheriff-equivalent powers and duties.
The SFY 2027 Deputy Sheriff Salary Supplementation Fund provides salary supplements for eligible full-time Missouri county deputy sheriffs. A county police department may also apply for full-time officers who have the powers and ability to perform all duties of the county sheriff. Funds may pay the applicable salary supplement and limited employee benefits resulting from that salary increase.
Who is eligible?
Applicant types: Missouri county sheriff's offices and qualifying Missouri county police departments
A Missouri county sheriff's office may apply to supplement the salaries and subsequent benefits of its full-time deputy sheriffs. A county police department may apply for full-time officers if those officers have the powers and ability to perform all duties of the county sheriff. Applicants must comply with applicable Missouri Department of Public Safety law-enforcement requirements.
What can the funding be used for?
Salary supplements for eligible full-time county deputy sheriffs or qualifying county police officers, together with employee benefits resulting from the salary increase. Eligible benefits are generally limited to FICA and Medicare, pension costs such as LAGERS or CERF, and workers' compensation.
Restrictions
Supplanting is prohibited. Positions classified by the organization as part-time are ineligible even if the employee works the stated full-time number of hours. Personnel with annual salaries of $70,000 or more are ineligible for a supplement. Insurance premiums and unemployment-compensation costs are not eligible benefits.

Applications are accepted only through the Missouri Department of Public Safety online WebGrants System. Applicants must complete all application forms, provide all required documents, certify compliance with applicable DPS law-enforcement requirements, and submit the application by May 13, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. CST.
