Texas Anti-Gang Program, FY2027

Summary: State funding for designated Texas cities and counties to support regional Texas Anti-Gang Centers and coordinated gang prevention, intervention, and suppression activities.
The Texas Public Safety Office is soliciting applications from specifically named cities and counties for regional, multidisciplinary projects addressing gang violence through Texas Anti-Gang Centers. Funding may support personnel, contractual building enhancements, information-system interfaces, equipment, training, supplies, and direct operating expenses that advance coordinated gang prevention, intervention, and suppression.
Funded projects must begin on or after September 1, 2026, and expire on or before August 31, 2027. Applicants must satisfy the governing-body resolution, cybersecurity, criminal-history reporting, law-enforcement reporting, evidence-tracking, immigration-enforcement certification, SAM registration, and other applicable program requirements.
Who is eligible?
Applicant types: Specifically designated Texas units of local government
Only the following units of local government are listed as eligible: City of El Paso, City of Laredo, City of McAllen, City of North Richland Hills, City of San Antonio, City of Waco, Harris County, Lubbock County, Midland County, and Smith County. The announcement solicits applications for preselected projects. Police and sheriff's agencies are not independently named as eligible applicants; the applicable eligible city or county must apply. Applicants must also satisfy all applicable cybersecurity, criminal-history disposition, UCR and Texas reporting, evidence-tracking, immigration-enforcement, SAM/UEI, and program-specific requirements.
What can the funding be used for?
Costs that directly support or enhance a regional, multidisciplinary approach using coordinated gang prevention, intervention, and suppression efforts through a Texas Anti-Gang Center. Eligible expenses include personnel, contractual costs for building enhancements and information-system interfaces, equipment, training, supplies, direct operating expenses, and physical or operational infrastructure for a regional TAG Center.
Restrictions
Aircraft, including fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft; medical services; law-enforcement equipment that is standard department issue; costs identified as unallowable in the Guide to Grants; and any use prohibited by federal, state, or local law or regulation.
How to apply
Register and apply through the Texas Office of the Governor's eGrants system. Submit and certify the application with all required attachments by 5:00 PM CST on March 12, 2026. PSO will screen applications for compliance and review them for eligibility, reasonableness, availability of funding, and cost-effectiveness. The Office of the Governor may decline applications, partially fund requests, or revise projects to address a more limited focus.
Required materials
A fully executed resolution from the governing body; Cybersecurity Training Certification for State and Local Governments; and a completed CEO/Law Enforcement Certifications and Assurances Form. Required attachments must be submitted by the application deadline. Applicants must also be registered in SAM and have a Unique Entity ID.
