Body-Worn Camera Grant Program (SFY 2027)

Summary: South Carolina funding for qualifying law-enforcement and legal agencies to purchase, maintain, replace, and support body-worn camera systems. SFY 2027 applications will be accepted from March 9 through April 3, 2026, with applications due at 5 p.m. on April 3.
The South Carolina Body-Worn Camera Grant Program provides financial assistance to qualifying law-enforcement and legal agencies for body-worn camera systems. Eligible costs may include cameras, associated equipment, maintenance, warranties, user licenses, storage, applicable tax and shipping, and other itemized BWC-related costs, subject to the applicable applicant instructions.
Applicants may request reimbursement for eligible purchases made during the specified reimbursement period or funding for new purchases. Applications require itemized costs, justification narratives, and supporting documentation. Law-enforcement applicants must also submit their agency BWC policy and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Training Council approval letter.
Who is eligible?
Applicant types: South Carolina state and local law-enforcement agencies and specified governmental legal offices
South Carolina state and local law-enforcement agencies, the South Carolina Attorney General's Office, solicitors' offices, and public defenders' offices. Law-enforcement applicants must identify their filled, certified law-enforcement officer positions.
What can the funding be used for?
Initial purchase, maintenance, and replacement of body-worn cameras; BWC-related equipment; one-year maintenance, user-license, and warranty costs; one-year BWC data-storage costs; applicable tax and shipping; and other itemized BWC-related costs. Applicants may request qualifying reimbursements or new purchases. The legal-professional instructions specifically identify BWC-related equipment, maintenance, storage, tax, shipping, and other related items.
Restrictions
Bundle requests are not accepted. Purchases outside July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026 are ineligible for reimbursement. Costs such as tax, shipping, license fees, warranties, and storage may not be combined into camera or equipment line items when the instructions require separate entry. Storage service is not taxable, although storage equipment may be taxable.
How to apply
Complete the IntelliGrants training video, have the agency contact register for a username and password, and complete the applicable Law Enforcement Professionals or Legal Professionals application in IntelliGrants. Itemize each requested cost, provide justification narratives, upload the required supporting documents, review the budget, and submit electronically. The source states that an application cannot be edited or reopened after submission.
Required materials
Documentation supporting each requested amount; paid invoices, purchase orders, and/or checks to the vendor for reimbursement requests; and vendor quotes for new-purchase requests. Law-enforcement applicants must also submit the agency's BWC policy and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Training Council BWC policy approval letter. The application additionally requires agency and contact information, itemized costs, budget information, and detailed justification narratives.

Funding cycle
